International Cricket Council (ICC) has organized its mega-event, ICC T20 World Cup, for a window of October which seems almost impossible amidst the Coronavirus outbreak. Rescheduling of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is another possible factor which can deprive ICC to hold the event with the full swing at least in 2020. However, the star cricketer, Rohit Sharma, still dreams of winning the T20 World Cup and wants to bring the trophy home.

Rohit Sharma, the right-handed batsman and the vice skipper of the Indian Cricket Team in the limited-overs format, has known to be the backbone of his side with massive batting techniques. His consistency is what has made him a well-known cricketer across the globe to whom bowlers see as a challenge to bowl against.

Back in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, Sharma was part of the ICC T20 World Cup when India managed to win in the finals of the event.

“Winning the T20 World Cup is a dream for all of us. Every time you go out there you want to win every game but the World Cup is the pinnacle of everything,” the 33-year-old Rohit was quoted as saying in Mumbai Indians’ official website.

“I want to win World Cups, we are not sure when this T20 WC is going to happen but as and when it happens, we will have a fair amount of time to prepare for it. I’m sure the cricket boards around the world are not going to say ‘everything is fine we are going to schedule the World Cup’,” he stated.

Rohit Sharma also hinted that the health amid the lockdown can affect their fitness level and the players need to maintain and be on the required scale before stepping into the field for the T20 World Cup.

“Of course, there will be preparation time that will be given to all the countries because everybody is under lockdown. Nobody is playing, or practicing or training besides staying home and doing limited stuff and that is not enough. We need to hit the gym and start training before going on the field,” Rohit added.

Notably, Sharma is one of the successful cricketers in the T20 format but came after his fellow, Kohli, in the rankings who occupies the 10th spot in ICC T20I men’s rankings.
