IPL cannot be truncated just to hold the Asia Cup: Reports

The hosting rights that Pakistan had to host Asia Cup have got some troubles in its ways as Team India has denied visiting Pakistan in the midst of their political tensions. As a consequence, the hosting rights are expected to be given to Dubai.

Pakistan have the rights for hosting the Asia Cup in 2020. However, the tournament is expected to take place in a neutral environment due to the political tensions between Pakistan and India. In March, Ehsan Mani, PCB chairman, also presented his opinion regarding a similar issue. Now, Shammi Sliva, Sri Lanka Cricket President, has revealed that the Pakistan Cricket Board has granted them permission to host the Asia Cup in 2020 following the current conditions in the world.

The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed that they have no idea from where such news is traveling and it has not been decided in ACC meetings to swap the Asia venues for holding Asia Cup.

The board further clarified that they won’t be truncating IPL because of Asia Cup that is to be held in the twenty-twenty format.

The cash-rich Indian T20 league was all set to go ahead by 29th March but the global health crisis did not work in the favor of organizing the league. The officials moved it to another window of April-March but with an extension in the lockdown in India has postponed IPL until further notice and is quarterly dependent upon the schedule of the T20 World Cup 2020.

“We have no idea where such reports are coming from and we’re surprised how fast these reports travel. The BCCI is clear that no decision was taken at the ACC meeting. The Board (BCCI) is tired of giving out these clarifications,” the BCCI official said, as reported by Yahoo cricket.

“Let’s be clear about that first. There won’t be a truncated IPL just to host an Asia Cup. Those thinking on such lines are clearly not speaking in India’s interests and the BCCI will not be a party to it,” sources added.
