Under the lifetime membership fees, MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper, owes RS 1,800 to Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). The circumstances became notable when one of Dhoni’s fan willed to pay on his behalf. However, the cricket association has denied accepting the amount.

Dhoni was given a lifetime membership by JSCA last October for Rs 10,00. The total amount including GST was 11,800, but the cashier misunderstood, and 1,800 were credited for Dhoni.

A group of students and Dhoni’s fan collected the amount and sent the draft to the association which was not accepted considering some policies. The secretary revealed that the step was taken without the author’s permission and hence, acceptance will not be on the list until Dhoni’s consent is with the one who is willing to pay on his behalf.

“They refused to take it – perhaps on someone’s instructions – and gave an acknowledgement receipt. We were advised we could send it by post,” said Pathak, who is known to protest against alleged irregularities in the JSCA, was quoted as saying by The Quint.

“If someone has to do something, he is free to do that. He can’t be stopped. Suppose I authorise someone to pay fees or money on my behalf, only then can that person pay it, isn’t it? Did Dhoni authorise these people to pay his dues? My permission (to accept the draft) is not needed in this, the permission of the person who is supposed to pay dues is required,” JSCA secretary Sanjay Sahay said.
