Mohammad Yousuf: Kohli and Rohit are of no equivalence to Dravid and Tendulkar

Mohammad Yousuf, formerly known as Yousuf Youhana, has been the face of the news for the last few months. After showering the fuming comments over the dual role of the coach-cum chief selector, Misbah ul Haq, Yousuf has gone for some Indian players.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma are well-known in the history of cricket for their exceptional batting styles. They are hard on bowlers with their aggressive tricks. The cricketing era does not often find players like them with the utmost talent inside.

Mohammad Yusuf pointed out that India had quality players such as Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly, Sehwag in the same playing XI and the current players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli cannot make comparisons with the players like Dravid and Tendulkar.

“In the past, teams, such as India, Australia, and South Africa, had 3-4 quality players in the side. India, for example, had players like [Rahul] Dravid, Sachin [Tendulkar], [Virender] Sehwag, [Sourav] Ganguly, [VVS] Laxman and Yuvraj Singh. These six batsmen were playing in a single team.”

“The current Indian team does not have such batsmen. You can’t compare the current players [such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma] with the class of Sachin and Dravid,” said Yousuf during a TV show as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

He also added that he had some problems regarding Babar Azam in test cricket but the things went fine later as he is now the consistent player and id performs in a familiar way, Babar can be the best player in the world.

“There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is the number one player in the world but if Babar Azam continues to improve, he will also go on to become the best player in the world,” he said. “I had my reservations, about his [Babar] performance in Test cricket, before the Australia tour. but he did really well there and is now scoring hundreds regularly in the longest format of the game.”
