Dhoni’s childhood coach: I don’t know why people are after him

MS Dhoni is one of those cricket players who do not require any introduction for the cricket fans. His retirement has been the fuming topic that is being discussed since months as people are forcing him to retire earlier rather than making a comeback.

Banerjee said that Dhoni ain’t that kind of person who will simply announce retirement. When he feels the need to do so, he will inform the board and will retire with dignity.

“Dhoni is not the kind of person who will call up people and tell them ‘I am retiring’. He knows how to do it. When he will feel it is time, he will inform BCCI and call a proper press conference and do all the things that needs to be done. Like he did when he called time on his Test career,” Banerjee was quoted as saying on Latestly on Thursday, May 28.

Recently, a hashtag on social media ‘#Dhoniretires’ was trending upon which the coach has advised not to believe such fake trends. He said that Dhoni knows better when to retire and will inform BCCI when he feels the need to retire from international cricket.

“You don’t go by social media. There are many things that become ‘trends’ but end up as fake news. I don’t know why people are after Dhoni. I know him well and I can tell you, he will let all of us know when he thinks he has to retire,” he said.

Banerjee maintained that people can evaluated Dhoni’s fitness level in IPL and subsequently, can find out that he is still able to play T20 World Cup.

“You will get to see in the IPL how fit Dhoni still is. He can play the T20 World Cup even if it is postponed. Even if it happens next year,” Banerjee added.
