Cricket has finally opened up its wings and has already started flying as the first international test match after a long break of 117 days was played between the home-siders England and Men in Maroon, West Indies. Also, the domestic leagues are on their way to be kicked off after the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has firstly scheduled their cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) for 19th September informally.

Now, the eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is to be started from 18th August. Setting the duration of two months, the Caribbean management will wind up a total of thirty-three (approximately estimated) from 18th August to September.

The two stadiums in Trinidad and Tobago, Brian Lara Cricket Academy and Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, are set to host the 23 and 10 games respectively behind closed doors.

“This year will be a different CPL, but the standard will be higher than ever. We have seen the appetite for live sport since it has returned after a prolonged absence, and the interest in CPL will be higher than ever with it being the first franchise T20 tournament to return,” said CPL’s CEO Damien O’Donohoe on the upcoming season of the T20 extravaganza.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the government of Trinidad & Tobago for helping us to put on this tournament in such difficult circumstances. We are delighted that we are able to deliver a tournament that is ensuring the safety of the public and the players and that will be of such a high standard,” said CPL’s COO Pete Russell about staging the tournament during such stern times.
