Zimbabwe won the match by 40 runs.

The 4th match of the Singapore Twenty20 Tri-Series took place on October 1st, 2019. Zimbabwe scored a total of 160 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Nepal scored 120 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs while chasing the target of 161 runs. Zimbabwe won the match by 40 runs against Nepal.

Zimbabwe’s innings against Nepal:

At the start of the 4th match of the Singapore Twenty20 Tri-Series, Nepal’s cricket team won the toss and decided to field first against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe sent Brian Chari and Regis Chakabva to bat first against Nepal. Brian Chari lost his wicket on a duck in the very first over of the match to Sandeep Lamichhane. Regis Chakbva soon followed Brian Chari in the 4th over of the match after scoring 6 runs of 11 balls.

Zimbabwe did not get a dream start from their openers as Peter Moor came in to bat at no.3 and scored 21 runs off 12 balls for a four and 2 sixes before being bowled by Lamichhane. Zimbabwe was looking troubled at the score of 38/3 after 5 overs but Zimbabwe’s captain Sean Williams came to their rescue.

Sean Williams played an impressive innings of 53 runs off 35 balls for 4 fours and 3 sixes. Sean Williams much required 53 runs helped Zimbabwe to become stabilized after losing three wickets in the early phase of the game. Tinotenda Mutombodzi scored 20 runs off 22 balls and Ryan Burl made 28 runs off 21 balls, while Zimbabwe’s wicketkeeper Richmond Mutumbami contributed 17 off 16 balls to their team’s total of 160 runs for 6 wickets after 20 overs.

Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets for 27 runs, while Sompal Kami bowled exceptionally well, taking 2 wickets while only conceding 15 runs in his 4 overs at the economy rate of 3.75 in a 20-over match. Abinash Bohara and Nepal’s captain Paras Khadka took 1 wicket each for Nepal’s cricket team.

Nepal’s innings against Zimbabwe:

Nepal required 161 runs from 120 balls to win the match against Zimbabwe. Nepal’s captain Paras Khadka and Pawan Sarraf came to bat first for Nepal. Pawan Sarraf went out on a duck on the 6th ball of the 1st over of their innings. Dipendera Singh Airee lost his wicket after scoring 4 runs of 4 balls, while Nepal’s captain Paras Khadka lost his wicket on 12 runs for 15 balls.

Nepal lost their 4th wicket in the 10th over of the match at a total of 53/4. Nepal now had only 6 wickets in their hand on their chase for 161 runs. Nepal’s wicketkeeper remained the top-scorer from his side by scoring 33 runs off 35 balls for 4 fours.

Nepal finished on a total of 120 runs for 9 wickets after 20 overs of their innings. Sean Williams took 3 wickets for 21 runs while Tinotenda Mutombodzi took 2 wickets against Nepal. Zimbabwe deployed 7 bowlers against Nepal’s team and 4 of them took 1 wicket each.

Zimbabwe’s captain Sean Williams was awarded “Player of the Match” for his all-round performance with both, the bat and the ball. Sean Williams scored 53 runs off 35 balls after Zimbabwe’s top order collapsed in the early stages of the game. Sean Williams also took 3 wickets by conceding only 21 runs in his 4 overs for Zimbabwe against Nepal.

Zimbabwe has won 2 out of the 3 matches they have played in the Singapore Twenty20 Tri-Series, while Singapore and Nepal have won 1 match each.
