It happens in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) where a place of the player is confirmed for the next many years once he performs in a single series. However, Rizwan seems quite consistent from past series and his inspiring performance might be a farewell to Sarfaraz Ahmed in tests.
Will Rizwan’s clinching test performance against England diminish Sarfaraz’s test career?
In the first test match played at Old Trafford, he scored 9 and 27 that was not much inspiring but the man got player of the match for his 72 runs to knock that was the highest among both sides by any batsmen in the second test. On being asked in a press conference his dealings with the criticism, he said that he much away from social media to keep track of the talks made on him and focuses more on his performance.
In the first innings of the third match, he smashed 53 of 113. He would have gone a far ahead but Woakes and Buttler seem to have a perfect bond on the field.
His performance is never too disappointing. The player has impressed classically with his batting in all three matches played against England so far. Despite all these, he has received criticism on many stages. After the eye-catching performance, he seems to fix his place in the national test squad which might be a threat for Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Discussing the test stats, where the former skipper averages 36.4 in 49 matches along with 86 innings smashing 2657 runs, Rizwan averages 35.1 featuring in only 13 innings of 9 matches with 386 runs.
Sarfaraz, despite being named in the sixteen-men-squad, did not get a chance in the playing XI and Rizwan signed in as a wicket-keeping middle-over batsman. He was sacked off from the captaincy after few horrible performances of the team and since then, Pakistan have failed to clinch the series win other than a single home series.
