According to what has been excluded out from Babar’s conference, Mohammad Rizwan is likely to get featured in the three-match T20I series as a wicket-keeping batsman. Despite Sarfaraz Ahmed also being a part of the seventeen-men-squad, the speculations are somehow to commence with Rizwan.
After what the crowd witnessed in the test series against England, Rizwan’s man of the series award is to dominate him in the shorter format as well. The skipper Babar said that choosing one among Sarfaraz and him is critical but Rizwan deserves a chance and has been perfect in the practicing sessions.
Will Rizwan be preferred over Sarfaraz in the T20I series as well?
“He is an exciting talent and has been doing well in practice. We will definitely want to give him a chance as and when it comes,” said Babar Azam.
It is to be noted that after Sarfaraz was sacked off from captaincy in 2019, he was later eliminated from the playing XI of all formats. The wicket-keeping batsman, since then, had been selected in the sixteen-men-squad for the three-match test series but did not get a chance to feature in the playing XI. After Sarfaraz’s replacement’s bombastic performances, it would be hard for him to remake his place in the red-ball format. Also, if T20I squad witnesses Rizwan, Sarfaraz’s shorter-format career might be in trouble as well.
It is now to see that out of two, who will get a chance. The fans have found the former skipper deserving due to his better shorter format’s stats. People believe that he is a bit slow for T20Is hence, the former skipper shall mark his presence and a comeback to cricket.
