The four senior players, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz, Shoaib Malik, and Mohammad Amir are to get their salaries according to A category. The renewal in the policy is because of the justified demands of the players.
Notably, the four players were getting paid in the C category as either they were not parts of the latest central contracts proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) or were demotivated to the C category.
According to the pre-existing policy, a player outside of the central contract pool will be getting a C category salary but there is a twist in the policy as Amir, Wahab, Hafeez, and Malik are to get the salaries on behalf of their careers and seniority.
Notably, Malik and Hafeez were axed from the central contracts in 2019, and on the other hand, Amir and Wahab were swiped to the C category.

“The four players made a logical and reasonable request to the PCB prior to the Zimbabwe series,” a PCB spokesperson said.
“The PCB, taking into consideration their seniority and accepting that their request has merit, agreed to pay their match fees in accordance with Category A scales for all matches they will play from the series against Zimbabwe until 30 June 2021,” he added.\
Note: Malik and Amir are not parts of the 35 member squad against New Zealand as they have been headed to Sri Lanka for the Lanka Premier League (LPL). While Hafeez and Wahab are the parts of the squad and will be seen playing against New Zealand.
