Abdullah Shafique, who has been in on social media after scoring a T20 hundred which is clearly termed as the match-winning knock for Central Punjab against Souther Punjab, might get his maiden International call along with Zeeshan Ashraf and Zeeshan Malik after their outclass domestic performance.
Abdullah, who played for the Sialkot region in U-19 and U-16, made his T20 debut yesterday batting along with Kamran Akmal. He outshone the man twice of his age completely in a run chase of 201 as he added 55-balls ton. This was arguably the best and the first Pakistani player to smash a hundred in both, first-class and second in T20 cricket history.
Notably, he has played only one first-class match when he was chosen for the Quaid-e-Azam trophy and inspiringly, in the only innings he played, he smashed 133 runs. Whereas, in his second match that he played in T20 cricket, he added 102 runs.
Will Abdullah Shafique get a call for Pakistan vs Zimbabwe series?
As Pakistan have already started preparing for their limited-overs series against Zimbabwe, they are likely to make minor changes. Misbah might have confirmed the squads but the major discussion with the related bodies is yet to be made.
Pakistan vs Zimbabwe is scheduled to play three ODI’s that are part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, on October 30th, November 1st, and November 2nd in Multan. The ODI series is followed by a three-match T20I series to be played in Rawalpindi on 7th, 8th, and 10th November.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) have already started their training with a 25-player squad at Harare on September 22nd. The teams will be following completely COVID-19 protocols and will be restricted in a biosecure bubble.
