Tallawahs’ wicketkeeper-batsman Glenn Phillips scored 23 runs off 11 balls for 3 quick fours and a huge six before losing his wicket to Hardus Viljoen in the 5th over of the match. Chris Gayle made 29 runs off 30 balls for 4 fours and a six before the Zouks’ captain Darren Sammy sent him back to the dressing room. At the start of the 10th over, Jamaica Tallawahs were 84/2.

Dwayne Smith played an impressive inning of 58 runs off 38 balls while hitting 7 fours and 3 huge sixes all over the ground, while also remaining the top-scorer of the whole match. Liton Das made 21 runs off 21 balls to push his team towards a total of 165 runs in the 20 overs. Jamaica Tallawahs scored 165 runs off 7 wickets in their 20 overs at the run rate of 8.25.

St Lucia Zouks Kesrick Williams bowled brilliantly as he took 3 wickets at the cost of 24 runs for his team. Krishmar Santokie took 2 wickets, while the Zouks captain Darren Sammy and Hardus Viljoen took 1 wicket each for the Zouks against the Tallawahs. The Zouks’ Fawad Ahmed also bowled his 4 overs for just 22 runs even tho he remained wicketless.

St Lucia Zouks’ innings against the Jamaica Tallawahs:

St Lucia Zouks required 166 runs from 20 overs to win the match against the Jamaica Tallawahs. St Lucia Zouks sent their wicketkeeper-batsman Andre Fletcher and Rahkeem Cornwall first to face the Tallawahs’ bowling.

Andre Fletcher played a quick innings of 17 runs for 8 balls for 2 fours and a six before he lost his wicket to Zahir Khan of the Tallawahs. Rahkeem Cornwall was the man who brought the Zouks into the winning position with his incredible performance with the bat. Rahkeem Cornwall scored 51 runs off 25 balls with the help of 4 fours and 6 huge sixes to put St Lucia Zouks on the front foot against the Jamaica Tallawahs.

Rahkeem Cornwall had been underperforming a lot in his last few matches scoring 6,13,8,8, and 5 while also remaining wicketless in his last 3 matches. Rahkeem Cornwall showed everyone with his brilliant half-century what he is capable of in the right circumstances.

Hardus Viljoen’s 32 off 24 balls also played a key role in bringing St Lucia Zouks towards the target. At one point St Lucia Zouk required 35 runs off 30 balls with 5 wickets in hand, it was the Zouks’ captain Darren Sammy who brought his team close to their victory with his 16 of 10 balls as he struck 2 sixes to Shamar Springer in the 19th over of the match. Krishmar Santokie struck the final blow as he smacked the ball out of the ground for a six on Chris Gayle’s ball to win the match for St Lucia Zouks.

The Zouks scored 169 runs off 6 wickets in 19.1 overs for the chase of the target of 166 runs set by Jamaica Tallawahs to win the match by 4 wickets with 5 balls remaining towards the end of the match. St Lucia Zouks struck 11 sixes – 5 of them were hit by Rahkeem Cornwall –  and 10 fours.

Imran Khan of Jamaica Tallawahs took 2 wickets for 34 runs in his 4 overs against the St Lucia Zouks, while Zaheer Khan, Dwayne Smith, and Ramaal Lewis took 1 wicket each for the Tallawahs.

The “Player of the Match” was awarded to Kesrick Williams for his brilliant performance with the ball as he took 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs for the St Lucia Zouks against Jamaica Tallawahs.

Jamaica Tallawahs have been knocked out of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 following this defeat, the Tallawahs have now lost 7 matches and won 2 out of the 9 matches they have played in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Each team will play 10 games in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) so the Tallahwahs and the Zouks both have 1 match remaining.

The St Lucia Zouks now have 7 points which is only 1 point behind St Kitts and Nevis Patriots who are 3rd on the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 points-table with 8 points with 1 match remaining for them to play.
