Pakistan started their day from 57/0 with Shan Masood and Abid Ali standing on the crease. The opening pair exceeded all expectations when they took a stand of 278 runs for the first wicket, which is the second-highest opening partnership for Pakistan in history.

Shan Masood scored his highest-ever 135 runs from 198 deliveries with 7 fours and 3 sixes, while Abid Ali played a beautiful inning of 174 runs from 281 balls with 21 fours and a six. Lahiru Kumara was the Sri Lankan bowler who claimed the only 2 wickets for Sri Lanka on Day 3 of the 2nd Test.

Pakistan is standing at their highest Test total in the past 12 months of 395/2. After losing Shan Masood and Abid Ali, Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali and Babar Azam took the reins in their hands till the end of the day.
