Dean Jones: Pakistan can’t win T20 World Cup without Sharjeel Khan

Dean Jones, who is collaborating closely with several T20 leagues around the world, thinks that Pakistan cannot win the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 without the hard-hitting batsman, Sharjeel Khan.

He said that Sharjeel’s fitness level could not be as that of Wasim Akram and Asif Iqbal but he is the hard hitter of the ball and a unit that plays as a solid rock.

“He’s not gonna be as fit as Wasim Akram or Asif Iqbal. He is a rock-solid unit and can hit the ball really hard,” he said.

Dean Jones claimed that Sharjeel Khan worked really hard during the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He revealed how the management worked hard to bring Sharjeel in form and disclosed his run-ups and push-ups.

“I have visuals of him doing pushups and runups. We worked hard on his fitness during the PSL,” he said.

According to Dean Jones, the absolute number of power hitters are not muscled up. Sharjeel, after losing 5-6 kg of his body mass will be totally okay.

“Mostly power-hitters in the world are muscled up. You don’t need to have Marathon players playing cricket, I think he needs to lose weight around 5 to 6kgs which would be enough for him to be back in the mainstream cricket,” he concluded.

However, ICC T20 World Cup can face obstacles in its way or being organized on the due schedule, it can move ahead to 2021 amid the Coronavirus outbreak. IPL can also affect the schedule as the franchise’s owners are thinking to organize the cash-rich league in a window of October when ICC organizers have already planned ICC T20 World Cup 2020 for.
