Wasim Akram is all set to be the head coach of the Karachi Kings (KK) for the remaining matches of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2020). Missing Dean Jones, who was the actual coach of Kings, Wasim said that he will be missed and does not aim for taking his place.
Disclosing further details, the newly selected coach added that the seat in the dressing room will be vacant for Jones who is no more with the King’s family. Praising the late fellow, Wasim added he was his greatest fellow who showed a positive image of Pakistan to the world.
PSL 2020: Wasim Akram to be the head coach of Karachi Kings
“I am not taking Jones’s place as Kings’ head coach. I mean he will be missed throughout and we will leave his seat in our dressing room with his name,” Akram said.
“He was a great buddy of mine. I know how he advocated for Pakistan across the world. He talked about Pakistan’s cricket, food, talent and hospitality everywhere in the world,” he said.
“I believe he was a great human being and as a coach he was brilliant. No coach in this world can take his place ever,” he concluded.
Wasim Akram believes things are not going to be much difficult as he has a crew of professionals named as Babar, Rizwan, Iftikhar, and Amir.
“With Imad Wasim as captain, current Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan being there, Iftikhar Ahmed being there, Mohammad Amir being there – all these guys are such thorough professionals. I will just have to organize and hopefully, that won’t be that difficult,” he added.
