Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan sent Javeria Khan and Sidra Ameen to open the innings. Sidra Ameen got caught by Fargana Hoque on Lata Mondal’s delivery in the fifth over of the match. Sidra Ameen scored 19 runs off 16 balls with the help of 3 fours.
After Sidra Ameen’s dismissal, opener Javeria Khan and Captain Bismah Maroof shared a partnership of 95 runs to put their team in a match-winning position. Javeria Khan scored her sixth T20I half-century. She finished her innings after scoring 52 runs off 44 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Jahanara Alam claimed Javeria’s wicket in the 17th over of the game.
Iram Javed added 3 runs and Aliya Riaz remained not out after scoring 10 runs off 5 balls. Pakistan Women’s captain Bismah Maroof played outstandingly as she remained unbeaten after contributing 70 runs off 50 deliveries, her highest ever individual score in T20Is. Bangladesh required 168 runs from 20 overs to win the 2nd T20I of their tour of Pakistan. Bangladesh Women sent Ayasha Rahman and wicketkeeper-batsman Shamima Sultana to open the innings. Pakistan’s bowlers bowled well from the start, claiming Ayasha Rahman’s wicket for 5 runs in the second over of the innings. Diana Baig took the wicket of Shamima Sultana after she scored 11 runs off 14 balls. Rumana Ahmed got run out by Aliya Riaz on a duck after facing 3 balls.
Bangladesh Women were 3 down for 25 runs. That is where Sanjida Islam and Nigar Sultana came in to bat. Sanjida Islam and Nigar Sultana shared a partnership of 57 runs to take their team to a total of 82 runs. Nigar Sultana contributed 21 runs off 21 balls, while Sanjida Islam stood out with her innings of 45 runs off 32 balls. Sanjida Islam remained the top-run scorer from Bangladesh’s side. She struck 8 fours before getting caught by Anam Amin on Sadia Iqbal’s delivery.
Fargana Hoque contributed a quick 30 runs off 19 balls after smacking 4 fours before getting stumped by Sidra Nawaz. Bangladesh Women’s captain Salma Khatun lost her wicket without scoring any runs. Jahanara Alam faced 5 balls and scored 18 runs with a four and 2 sixes but it was all in vain as Bangladesh fell 16 runs short of the target of 168 runs.
