Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in the 2nd T20I by 9 wickets with 20 balls to spare at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez played a vital role in Pakistan’s 9-wicket victory over Bangladesh. Pakistan is now leading the 3-match T20I series by 2-0.
Pakistan vs Bangladesh, 2nd T20I:
Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. 19-year-old Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed Mohammad Naim of a duck in the 2nd over of the match. Mahedi Hasan and wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das also could not contribute much to their team. Mahedi Hasan added 9, while Liton Das lost his wicket after scoring 8 runs.
Opener Tamim Iqbal stood through all this as he celebrated his 7th T20I half-century. The batsman played a steadfast inning of 65 runs from 53 deliveries with the help of 7 fours and a six. Tamim Iqbal got run out by Imad Wasim in the 18th over of the match.
Afif Hossain scored 21 runs from 20 balls, while the skipper Mahmudullah got bowled by Haris Rauf after scoring 12 runs.

Bangladesh finished their innings on 136/6 after 20 overs. Mohammad Hasnain took 2 wickets for 20 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Shadab Khan each secured 1 wicket for Pakistan.
Pakistan required 137 runs to win the match and gain an unassailable lead into the 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Ahsan Ali lost his wicket on a duck after facing 7 balls. However, after skipper Babar Azam and veteran Mohammad Hafeez carried Pakistan to victory with their unbeaten partnership in 16.4 overs.
Babar Azam scored his 13th T20I half-century as he contributed 66 runs from 44 balls with 7 fours and a six. Mohammad Hafeez, on the other end, amassed a total of 67 runs from 49 balls with 9 fours and a six.
Pakistan’s experienced duo of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez has once again proved that age is just a number to them. Shoaib Malik led Pakistan to victory in the first T20I yesterday with his not out 58 runs and today it was Mohammad Hafeez’s turn to lead the charge.
Babar Azam was named the “Player of the Match” as Pakistan chased the target of 137 and won the match with 9 wickets and 20 balls to spare.
The 3rd and final T20I of Bangladesh’s first leg of their tour will be played on Monday, January 27.
