Our stance is clear: PCB not in favor of giving IPL a window over Asia Cup

The official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed that their stance is clear of not giving IPL a priority over Asia Cup.

PCB is of the view that a domestic league shall not be prioritised over a event like Asia Cup.

Asia Cup, as per the existing schedule, is all set to be commenced in September. As the ICC’s management is looking forward to shift the T20 World Cup to 2021 or 2023, Indian cricketing authorities are looking forward to hold their league in the window of September-November. It is to be noted that September is already reserved for Asia Cup which is creating controversy for other nations if IPL goes on.

“How PCB can let go of Asia Cup T20 window for the sake of a domestic league. Asia Cup T20 will be organized as scheduled and as decided between the members over the last teleconference. It is important and critical for the finances of PCB and also for the growth of ACC member boards,” a PCB source was quoted as saying in Insidesport.

“Our stance is absolutely clear, the Asia Cup is set for September and the only reason it should not take place is continued health safety issues. We will not accept that the Asia Cup is moved to accommodate the IPL,” PCB CEO Wasim Khan had earlier said.

However, IPL was all set to be commenced by 29th March, but the several lockdown by the Indian government delayed the league which finally has been postponed until the further notice. Also, BCCI is looking for every possible chance to hold their cash-rich league.
