Mohammad Amir secures 6 wickets in BPL qualifier 2

Pakistani bowler, Mohammad Amir, starred with the best ever bowling figures in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history, during the 1st Qualifier between Khulna Tigers and Rajshahi Royals. Khulna Tigers are now in the Final of BPL.

Khulna Tigers defeated Rajshahi Royals by 27 runs as the Tigers’ bowlers brought down Rajshahi Royals on just 131 runs in their chase for the target of 159.

Mohammad Amir took 6 wickets and conceded only 17 runs in his 4 overs with an economy rate of 4.25. He was also awarded the “Player of the Match” award as his heroics lead the Tigers towards a 27-run victory. Robbie Frylinck and Shahidul Islam secured 1 wicket each, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 2 wickets in just 1 over for 6 runs.

Amir dismissed Rajshahi Royals opener, Liton Das, in the first over of the innings. He took the wickets of Afif Hossain and Alok Kapali in his 2nd over.

Mohammad Amir also dismissed his fellow Pakistani player Shoaib Malik who had played a brilliant innings of 80 runs from 50 balls. Shoaib Malik was the leading run-scorer for the Royals but his solitary performance was not enough to win the game for his team, as no other batsmen managed to cross even 12 runs as the entire team collapsed on 131.

Khulna Tigers will face the winner of the 2nd Qualifier between Chattogram Challengers and Rajshahi Royals. The BPL Final will be played on January 17, while the 2nd Qualifier will be played on January 15.

After his 6-wicket haul, Amir has now taken 18 wickets in the tournament, the 3rd highest. Mustazifur Rahman is the leading wicket-taker with 20 wickets in the tournament, while Robbie Frylinck of Khulna Tigers is second with 19 wickets.
