The head coach-cum-chief selector, Misbah ul Haq, has heaped praises on Shan Masood after his stable innings against England. The opener scored a magnificent century in the first innings that indeed caught attention after many records were registered.

He became the fifth Pakistani opener to score a test century against England. Also, the opening batsman has become the third cricketer to score three consecutive test centuries. Shan, after scoring three consecutive centuries against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and England are deserving of the praises.

Being the first Pakistani to score test-hundred against England after Saeed Anwar, Shan Masood seems to have a fixed place in the squad.

However, he was grabbed unfortunately on a duck in second innings. Pakistan lost the match and it was not expected that the side will lose the match as Woakes and Buttler added their match-winning partnership.

“He has been working so hard. It was a brave decision to bat first against England’s bowling attack in those conditions. Shan batted really well and it was great to see his partnerships with first Babar Azam and then Shadab Khan that shifted the momentum,” Misbah was quoted as saying.

Misbah has also praised Younis Khan’s coaching skills who is working hard in collaboration with Shahid Aslam.

“Shan should be given a lot of credit for his innings. He has been working so hard – with coaches Shahid Aslam and now Younis Khan – ever since I took the coaching job last September. He’s changed his approach to batting.

“He’s a different batsman now and Younis has helped him too. They have a good relationship from batting together at Pallekele back in 2015 when Shan made his first Test hundred,” said Misbah.
