India defeated Australia by 74 runs in the Quarter-Final of the U19 World Cup 2020. India’s Kartik Tyagi was named the “Player of the Match” for his 4-wicket haul. India has now qualified for the Semi-Final of the U19 World Cup.

India U19 vs Australia U19, U19 World Cup Quarter-Final 1 Highlights:

Australia won the toss and opted to field first. India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stood out with his classy innings of 62 runs from 82 deliveries before he was bowled by Tanveer Sangha. Yashasvi Jaiswal struck 6 fours and 2 sixes in his innings and also remained the top-scorer from India’s side.

Siddhesh Veer contributed 25 runs from 42 balls, while Ravi Bishnoi added 30 runs from 31 deliveries to the board. Atharva Ankolekar’s unbeaten innings of 54-ball 55 runs pushed India to their total of 233/9 in 50 overs. Australia’s Corey Kelly and Todd Murphy took 2 wickets each, while Matthew Willans, Connor Sully, and Tanveer Sangha took 1 wicket each for their team.

In their chase for a total of 234 runs, Australia had the most unfortunate start of all. They lost 3 wickets in the first over of the match including the run out of Jake Fraser-McGurk on the very first ball of the inning.

Australia had lost 4 wickets for 17 runs but wicketkeeper-batsman Patrick Rowe and opener Sam Fanning tried their best to bring back Australia on their feet. Patrick Rowe added 21 runs from 40 balls. Sam Fanning played an outstanding innings under pressure and held his nerves as he scored 75 runs from 127 balls. Liam Scott also added 35 runs from 71 balls.

Australia U19 lost 3 wickets in the 42nd over and finished their innings on 159 after losing all their wickets in 43.3 overs. Kartik Tyagi secured 4 wickets for 24 runs, while Akash Singh claimed 3 wickets for 30 runs towards the end of the innings.
