St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won the toss and elected to field first against St Lucia Zouks in the 21st match of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019. St Lucia Zouks’ wicketkeeper-batsman Andre Fletcher and Rahkeem Cornwall came to bat first for St Lucia Zouks against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Andre Fletcher provided St Lucia Zouks with a solid start before he lost his wicket to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ Mohammad Hafeez in the 8th over of the match by scoring 36 runs off 23 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Colin Ingram scored 21 off 16 balls and Colin de Grandhomme scored 17 runs off 14 balls contributing to St Lucia Zouks’ total. When Andre McCarthy of St Lucia Zouks lost his wicket in the 13th over, St Lucia Zouks were at the score of 101/5. St Lucia Zouks captain Darren Sammy and Chris Barnwell took it from there to push St Lucia Zouks total well past beyond 150 with their 56 runs partnership.

Chris Barnwell scored 27 runs off 23 balls by hitting a four and a six and remained not out while on the other end, St Lucia Zouks captain Darren Sammy caused trouble for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots with his 30 runs off 19 balls by hitting 3 fours and a six towards the end of the innings to further push St Lucia Zouks’ total to 165/6.

Mohammad Hafeez took 3 wickets at the cost of 22 runs in his 4 overs for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots while Alzarri Joseph took 2 wickets and Kerron Cottoy took 1 wicket against St Lucia Zouks.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots now required 166 runs off 120 balls to win the match against St Lucia Zouks.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots innings against St Lucia Zouks:

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Thomas and Evin Lewis came to bat first for the Patriots against St Lucia Zouks. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots lost both their openers in the 5th over of the match at the score of 31/2.

Laurie Evans scored 28 off 24 balls and Mohammad Hafeez scored 29 runs off 31 balls for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots but their efforts were not enough to win the match for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots against St Lucia Zouks.

Mohammad Hafeez lost his wicket to Fawad Ahmed in the 16th over and at that point in the game, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were at 103/7, still requiring 63 runs off 29 balls with only 3 wickets remaining.

After 20 overs of the game, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots could only manage to score 145 runs at the cost of 9 wickets in 20 overs of the game. St Lucia Zouks bowled exceptionally well today. Kesrick Williams proved a little bit expensive as he took 3 wickets but at the cost of 48 run for the St Lucia Zouks.

Hardus Viljoen was awarded the “Player of the Match” award for his 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his 4 overs while also bowling a maiden over.

St Lucia Zouks victory against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were their 2nd win of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 in their 7 matches. St Lucia Zouks now move to the 4th position in the CPL 2019’s points table, moving past Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Tallawahs.
