The COVID-19 rising cases in the Emirates Country have restricted the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) to reveal the complete schedule and venues of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020).
The weather became another interruption as the board wants to hold three matches in a day, the heat strokes might be different in different day timings. Hence, the BCCI will have to suffer the heat as COVID-19 is more dangerous to cope with. Finally, to commence the league ahead, BCCI is to reveal the complete schedule on 29th August.
It has not yet been reported formally but the reliable sources speculated the date as 29th.
BCCI likely to announce IPL 2020 schedule on 29th August
“Just small pieces of the jigsaw puzzles are remaining and we should resolve them and release the schedules soon. ECB chief’s support in the matter was of great help. We will incorporate changes in the schedule as per our discussions with the local authorities,” said one of the BCCI sources currently in Dubai as reported by Cricket Next.
The cash-rich T20 tournament, IPL 2020 is ready to be commenced by 19th September in full fledge. The league will be continued for 51 days as revealed by the official.
IPL was all set to be kicked off by 29th March. It moved ahead by the pressure created by the lockdown in India, which was later extended as well. The cash-rich league first moved to the latest window of April-May, then with an extension in the lockdown by Modi’s government till 3rd May, the league was called off indefinitely till any further notice by the officials. The cancelation was to cost negatively to franchises as well as BCCI.
The situation was hanging by a thread of losing INR 40 billion. There could hardly be a chance for a proper continuation of IPL. BCCI might have chosen to keep the tournament truncated and behind closed doors.
Keeping the tournament short and with no audience, BCCI and franchises could have lost INR 40 billion revenues that indeed is a massive amount for the cash-rich league.
