The Dubai venues might witness a small number of the crowd after Sourav Ganguly has hinted towards the fulfilment of the venues by 30%. He said the world is going through difficult times and it would have been easy to avoid IPL but things cannot commence ahead like this forever.
The president of BCCI further added that the broadcasters ars looking and expecting for the higher rating for which, people might be needed in the ground. He also added that sitting close would be dangerous hence, social distancing would be the way to go ahead allowing a small number of spectators. Also, testing before allowance of entrance must be mandatory.
Will IPL 2020 witness small crowds?
“Crowds will watch it on television…they (the broadcasters) are actually expecting the highest rating of IPL this season because they believe if (people) don’t turn up in the ground, they will be actually watching on their television sets,” he said. “There is a positive in everything,” he added.
“Because of the COVID and infection, you don’t want people to be too close to each other, but very soon you will see there will be 30 per cent people in the ground with social distancing.”
“They are properly tested and allowed to enter the ground. But I think that is going to happen over a period of time. We could have easily avoided the IPL…but then, that’s what we humans are and that’s why we have survived all the difficult times,” he added.
The much-awaited extravaganza is all set to be kicked at Dubai entirely from 19th September. However, the venues for 51 matches have still not been decided as the official schedule is yet to be revealed.
