Dinesh Chandimal, Dilruwan Perera rescue Sri Lanka on Day 2:
Sri Lanka vs Pakistan: After losing 5 wickets for 80 runs, Sri Lanka was in a lot of trouble with the bat but Dinesh Chandimal and Dilruwan Perera made sure that their team does not suffer the same fate as Pakistan on Day 1.
Dinesh Chandimal shared a 67 runs partnership with Dhananjaya de Silva, who contributed 32 runs from 56 deliveries. Dinesh Chandimal scored 74 runs from 143 balls and remained the top-scorer from Sri Lanka’s side.
Dilruwan Perera added 48 from 84 balls to bring Sri Lanka’s total to 271 runs, by the end of the inning, leading Pakistan by 80 runs.
Sri Lanka vs Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Abbas bowled out Sri Lanka:
Pakistani bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Abbas bowled out Sri Lanka’s entire batting order. Shaheen Shah Afridi achieved his maiden 5-wicket haul in National Stadium Karachi.
Mohammad Abbas, on the other end, claimed 4 wickets for 55 runs in his 27 overs. Mohammad Abbas now has the second-best bowling average in the last 10 years after playing 17 matches and claiming 71 wickets with an average of 20.52, second only to India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who has played 12 matches and claimed 62 wickets with an average of 19.24.
While Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Abbas claimed 9 wickets together, the remaining one wicket fell into Haris Sohail’s hands as he provided Pakistan with a much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Dinesh Chandimal.
Shan Masood and Abid Ali have opened the second innings for Pakistan. Shan Masood has scored 21 runs from 42 balls, while Abid Ali is standing firm with 32 runs on 42 deliveries. Pakistan had scored 57 runs without a loss at the end of the day and is on trail by 23 more runs.
