England defeated South Africa in the 2nd Test to level the 4-match Test series by 1-1. Ben Stokes secured the last 3 wickets quickly to wrap up the game in England’s favor as South Africa fell for 248 runs, losing the match by 189 runs.
Ben Stokes was also awarded the “Player of the Match” for his brilliant all-round performance as he struck 47 runs for 77 deliveries in the visiting side’s first innings and a quick 72 for 47 balls in the second innings of the match, while also claiming 3 wickets.

South Africa vs England, The guests won the toss and elected to bat first. England scored 269 runs in their first innings. Ollie Pope stood out with his unbeaten 61 runs for 144 balls. Kagiso Rabada secured 3 wickets for 68 runs. Vernon Philander, Anrich Nortje, and Dwaine Pretorius claimed 2 wickets each.
In response, the hosts scored 223 in their first innings. Dean Elgar scored 88 runs from 180 balls, and Rassie van der Dussen added 68 runs from 187 balls. England was leading the match by 46 runs. South Africa received a sound start from their openers as Pieter Malan and Dean Elgar shared a steady 71 runs partnership for the first wicket. Dean Elgar added 34 runs, while Pieter Malan scored 84 runs for 288 balls. Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock scored 50 runs as South Africa fell for 248 runs. Ben Stokes took 3 wickets. James Anderson and Joe Denly took 2 wickets each.
