The Board of Control of Cricket in India’s (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly, has revealed that the Asia Cup 2020 has been called off.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was to hold the meeting on 9th July in this regards, but BCCI’s president has revealed it before the official announcement was declared.
As the decision on Asia Cup was still deferred by the council, it was not sure whether the tournament would go ahead by September or not.
However, at least BCCI now have September’s vacant window to hold IPL. If ICC also goes on for the cancelation, then October and November can be added to September’s vacant window, and the Indian board will have September-November to hold their cash-rich T20 league.

“Asia Cup has been canceled,” claimed Ganguly just a day before the scheduled Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting.
Discussing the initiations of cricket in India, he says that things are still messed up although BCCI holds monthly meetings, still, it can be guaranteed when the cricket period in India will be resumed. Sourav and BCCI consider player’s health as the utmost priority.
“It’s difficult to say which will be India’s first international series. We’ve done our preparations, but we can’t do much till we know the government rules. We are not in a hurry because the health of players is of the utmost importance. We are monitoring things monthly,” he added.
