Mohammad Hafeez, the experienced all-rounder, has been in the news recently as after PCB conducted the first COVID-19 test and he turned out to be positive but later was marked amongst negative as he conducted a test personally.
After PCB retested the first sample, Hafeez was another distinguished as COVID-19 positive but the second test declared him as negative again. As a consequence of this positive-negative game, PCB’s testing system could be doubted as Hafeez posted his COVID-19 reports on twitter declaring the test by PCB was wrong.
Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani fast-bowler, has commented on the scenario and said M. Hafeez shall not mess with the board that has selected him. He thinks Hafeez shall have talked to the board privately instead of posting it.
Shoaib Akhtar to Hafeez: Don’t mess with the board that is selecting you
“My advice to Hafeez is that he should have not published his [test results] on Twitter. Instead, he should have confronted the board privately. What he did was a mistake. You don’t mess with the board that is selecting you. If you mess with them, then there will be consequences,” Shoaib Akhtar said.
On the other hand, Wasim Khan, the CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that they are still looking into Hafeez’s matter as his social media post regarding turning into COVID-19 negative after a personal test conductance caused a problem and put people in doubt for the PCB testing system.
“He [Hafeez] doesn’t have a central contract but once he was selected for the Pakistan team he has to abide by the rules and regulations for all players especially pertaining to the use of social media. We are still looking at the matter because it has caused us a lot of problems,” the PCB CEO said.
Also, the former bowler has wished team Pakistan a stroke of very good luck ahead of their England’s tour and wants them to improve their test rankings.
“It is an important tour for Pakistan. If they send a half-baked squad just to complete the tour, then it can be a problem. I want Pakistan to win the Test series or at least give a good fight as I don’t want them to slip further in the Test rankings. I wish them best of luck,” Shoaib Akhtar said.
