Namibia qualified for their first-ever T20 World Cup after they defeated Oman by a huge margin of 54 runs in the 2nd Qualifying playoff of the T20 World Cup Qualifier. Namibia amassed 161 runs at the cost of 7 wickets while batting first from 20 overs. Oman lost all their wickets for 107 runs in 19.1 overs in their chase of 162 runs.

Namibia succeeded in securing a slot at the T20 World Cup 2020 and is the fourth team to qualify through the T20 World Cup Qualifiers along with Ireland, Papua New Guinea, and the Netherlands. Only two more teams can qualify through the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. Oman still has a chance to secure their place in the T20 World Cup 2020 if they win their match against Hong Kong in the 4th Qualifying playoff.
Namibia’s JJ Smit hits the fastest half-century of the tournament:
Namibia won the toss and elected to bat first in the 2nd Qualifying playoff of the T20 World Cup Qualifier. They sent Stephan Baard and Nikolaas Davin to bat first. Bilal Khan dismissed Stephan Baard on the first ball of the match for a golden duck. JP Kotze got bowled by Bilal Khan in the third over of the match. Nikolaas Davin contributed 21 runs off 13 balls for 3 fours and a six before being caught by Aamir Kaleem on Mohammad Nadeem’s delivery.
Captain Gerhard Erasmus added 15 runs to his team’s total, while wicketkeeper-batsman Zane Green scored 7 runs. Craig Williams played an innings of 45 runs off 41 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. JJ Smit batted outstandingly as he scored the fastest half-century of the tournament. JJ Smit and Craig Williams shared a partnership of 83 runs off 40 balls. JJ Smit scored his half-century off 20 balls and finished his innings at the score of 59 runs off 25 balls with 3 fours and 5 huge sixes.

Oman required 162 runs to win the match against Namibia and qualify for the T20 World Cup 2020. Khawar Ali and Jatinder Singh came to bat first for Oman. Jatinder Singh lost his wicket on a duck in the first over of the innings. Aqib Ilyas and Khawar Ali made sure to give their team a sound start as they built a 57 runs partnership together. Khawar Ali contributed 41 runs off 25 balls for 5 fours and 2 sixes, while Aqib Ilyas lost his wicket after scoring 18 runs off 17 balls.
Oman’s captain Zeeshan Maqsood could score only 2 runs before losing his wicket to Gerhard Erasmus. Oman was 61/3 in the eighth over of the match, and things just went down the slope for them from that point. They kept losing wicket one after the other to the Namibian bowlers with only 3 batsmen making it to the double digits.
