MS Dhoni might play his last IPL if wins the trophy for CSK: Reports

According to a senior official of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni might be featuring in the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

As revealed by him, Dhoni will bid farewell to IPL if he will win the trophy for his side.

Recently, as his topic for the retirement was frenzied after the semifinal of the World Cup 2019, the debate is finally closed. A few wanted him to retire considering his age while a few considered age as just a figure. The wicket-keeping middle-over skipper was not seen on the field since semifinal against New Zealand, however, he was spotted practicing in nets for IPL. The topic is finally closed forever after he has retired from the international level.

Dhoni planned to make an international comeback from the World Cup 2020 and then bidding farewell to cricket, but as the mega-event has been shifted to another year, he might leave playing after IPL 2020 as well.

“No idea where that one came from. But that’s MSD, isn’t it,” a senior CSK official told The Times of India.

“T20 World Cup would’ve been ideal, but considering that’s not happening now, he’ll want to walk away with an IPL trophy for CSK,” those tracking developments revealed.

“That was the original plan. He would prepare for the T20 World Cup by way of participating in the IPL and then go forward from there. All of that got disrupted by COVID. The commercial arrangements were due to arrive at a certain inflection point post the T20 World Cup and that would’ve eventually seen his exit anyway,” revealed sources.

However, the player might be seen featuring in the managing activities or upholding some coaching seats.

“MS can be expected to become part of the game’s administration at some level”,  revealed sources to the news outlet.

“All these years have allowed him to understand the game at multiple levels, from its operations and logistics to administration, the finances and all. He’ll be a ready product to take charge of the game’s administration at one level or the other, once he relieves himself from all cricketing responsibilities as a player,” the sources added.
