MS Dhoni’s comeback is independent of IPL: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra, the former Indian cricketer, thinks that it is the huge misconception that MS Dhoni can make a comeback in international cricket after being an active participant in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Dhoni’s retirement has been a fuming topic for cricket media in recent times. A few people have pushed him towards early retirement and he was not the part of Indian Cricket Team for more than nine months, people want him to retire early and don’t want to see him in the squad, however, MS Dhoni is a legendary name in the world of cricket who has served his nation passionately with the desire. A few have backed him as well and said that he shall not be forced to retire as he has got much more to serve to his nation and as age is just a number, all that matters is fitness.

Aakash Chopra thinks it as a misconception that IPL can serve as a platform for MS Dhoni to comeback in the Indian Cricket Team on the international level.

He further said that if IPL and T20 World Cup get postpone, there will be a vacant duration of 18 months for MS Dhoni without a single game which can badly affect his fitness and make him unfit for the game.

See, if the team wants him to play, all that will happen. But if the IPL doesn’t take place this year, the T20 World Cup doesn’t happen this year, (then), of course, he will be a year older; and with him out of the cricket for more than 18 months, you can assume that you might not see him play again for India”, the former Indian opener said.
