Pakistan‘s Shahid Afridi is likely to miss out on the first two matches for the Galle Gladiators in the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2020).
Gladiator’s international icon player was all set to captain the franchise but on Monday, he tweeted that he has missed out on his flight and will soon be joining the squad.
However, where all four franchises earlier reached Sri Lanka to participate in the league, Gladiators have been the last to fly to the island country.

Notably, Afridi was last seen playing cricket in the Qualifier round of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2020) for the Multan Sultans and scored 12 runs along with three wickets in two matches.
In Afridi’s absence, Bhanuka Rajapaksa will take over his duty as a skipper. However, originally, Bhanuka was destined as a deputy for the Galle Gladiators. The franchise will play its first game against Jaffna Stallions on 26th November.
However, Colombo is all set to lock horns with Kandy in the opening match of the new T20 league at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
