I’d have killed Wasim Akram if he’d have asked for match-fixing: Shoaib Akhtar

Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar are the two main and notable former figures of Pakistani bowling line-up. The king of swing, Wasim Akram, and the finest speedster, Shoaib Akhtar, have always formed a duo of friendship and have led Pakistan Cricket Team towards victory moments altogether several times.

Many of the players, or it shall be like, almost all of the players were honest to their country at that time despite a few. Wasim and Shoaib are the finest examples. Wasim has never asked Shoaib for a match-fixing according to Shoaib as he was not such a player.

Shoaib says that he would have killed him better than indulging himself in a spot-fixing scandal. He also mentioned that Wasim could not ask such a thing as he was an honest man on the field to his country.

“I played with him for seven to eight years and I can quote many instances where he gave me cover by taking the responsibility of picking up the top-order wickets while leaving the tailenders for me. He even let me bowl from my preferred bowling even though he had a lot more wickets that I did. After watching these old matches, I called him and apologized to for not truly appreciating his greatness while playing with him,” he added.

Recently, M. Amir, Sharjeel Khan, and Salman Butt have gotten an eye of the camera on their match-fixing corrupt activities. Amir and Sharjeel, however, have made a comeback to Pakistan Cricket Team. A few former players, like Miandad, thinks that such players shall be hanged instead of giving them light punishments and a second chance is not the option at all. Many other players suggested PCB hand over a lifetime ban to such players as corrupt activities by a player of the respective team can spoil the image of the respective country on an international and broader level.
