Justin Langer, the head coach of Australia cricket team, seems pretty happy after ICC revealed their latest team rankings in ODI, T20Is, and Tests. Australia are now on first spot in ICC Test and T20I rankings. Justin Langer still wants more as he wills to beat the best to prove themselves.
Australia coach’s ultimate goal is to beat India in India. India swiped down in test rankings as ICC considered match results since 2017. Earlier, this year, Kohli’s leading side lost a test series against Kiwis. This dragged Men in blue down to 114 points.
“Certainly a goal for us has been the World Test Championship … but ultimately, we have to beat India in India and we’ve got to beat them when they come back (to Australia).
“You can only judge yourself as being the best if you beat the best and we’ve got some really tough opposition to come,” Langer told Cricket.com.au.
Australia have urged consistent performance since 2017. This is what has led them to the first spot in ODI and Test rankings. The team faced critical times when Steve Smith and David Warner were handed over a ban. Langer over took a prior coach who involved him self in ball tampering scandal in South Africa. But later, the team settled. Smith and Warner made mighty comebacks. Steve Smith did really well in matches of ICC Test Championship when they defeated England.
However, Justin Langer wants a bit more and is hungry to beat India. They are waiting for a test series in ICC Test Championship where they can trash the Men in Blue to prove themselves as the leading side despite still having first positions in Test and ODI rankings.
