India U-19 defeats South Africa U-19 in 2nd Youth ODI:

India U-19 defeated South Africa U-19 by 8 wickets owing to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s outstanding all-round performance. India has now won the 3-match Youth ODI series by 2-0 against the home side. Tyrese Karelse and Mondli Khumalo made their U-19 debuts for South Africa.

India U-19 opted to field first after winning the toss. Andrew Louw and Levert Manje opened the innings for South Africa. India’s Akash Singh dismissed both South African openers in his spell. Andrew Louw scored 24 runs, while Levert Manje fell for 7.

Jonathan Bird scored 25 runs and remained the top-scorer from his side. Captain and wicketkeeper-batsman, Khanya Cotani scored 13 runs from 26 deliveries before losing his wicket to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Tiaan van Vuuren contributed 18 runs and remained not out as the hosts finished their innings on 119.

India U-19 vs South Africa U-19, Yashasvi Jaiswal named “Player of the Match”:

India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal cleared the lower order of the South African side. He finished after taking 4 wickets for 13 runs in just 3.5 overs. Akash Singh conceded 37 runs for 2 wickets, Atharva Ankolekar secured 2 wickets for 16 runs, and Ravi Bishnoi took 2 wickets for 2 runs.

India required 120 runs to win the match. The visitors lost their skipper. Priyam Garg for a duck, but opener Yashasvi Jaiswal struck an unbeaten 89 runs from 56 deliveries. Jaiswal smacked 14 fours and 3 sixes in his blistering innings. Dhruv Jurel also added 26 runs from 26 balls and remained not out till the end.

India-U19 chased the target of 120 runs in just 16.2 overs and won the match by 8 wickets with 202 balls remaining to secure the 3-match Youth ODI series by 2-0. India won the 1st Youth ODI by 9 wickets.
