Dammu Ravi, the additional secretary, and the ministry of external affairs and coordinator of COVID-19 has asked the organizers to call-off the IPL 2020 in regards to current panic created by COVID-19.
In the media chat, the ministry of external affairs, Dammu Ravi, said that,
“Think it is for the organizers to decide whether to go ahead with it or not. Our advice would be to not do it at this time but if they want to go ahead, it is their decision.”
However, BCCI is looking forward to all possibilities for not to call-off IPL at any cost. Dammu responded in a response to BCCI’s will to take IPL ahead and suggests to call-off the league. However, it remains to be seen if the league can overcome this pandemic as global meltdown looms large on sporting events.
The league was all set to be kicked-off from March 29th but, was delayed due to the COVID-19 threat. It was decided that the league would be played behind the closed doors so citizens can be saved as denounced by BCCI but, cancelation at all ain’t an option. It goes even with or without all players.
Where all the set-up has been made for rescheduling IPL by April 15, according to the suggestions of Dammu Ravi and the situation, it could be delayed further.
