Bharat Arun, the bowling coach of the Indian Cricket Team, thinks that India’s speed is successful because of the usage of GPS trackers, which helps to monitor the movement of the player on the field.
Bharat is often credited for India’s well pace attack, which can be seen in M. Shami, Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, and Kuldeep Yadav at present. He took over the post in 2017 for the national team. However, the veteran was already experienced being the bowling coach of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Team from 2002-2006.
Bharat Arun reveals the reason behind India’s successful pace.
“When we talk about workload management, we are looking at the number of overs a bowler has bowled. But then a bowler can over-exert himself in a game, and that is not under your control. So we use the GPS tracker to monitor all his movements on the field,” he was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
He revealed that a tracker gives them information to evaluate the data regarding the player’s concerns through which, the workload at the training sessions can be managed. After finding the right balance, India is a successful bowling unit, and the bowlers can bowl at 140 mph.
“For example, a bowler runs around 20 km on the field. And the tracker gives us a lot of data and information about the bowler concerned. By analyzing this data, you can manage the workload at training sessions. You need to find the right balance. And the Indian bowlers have managed to do that so far,” he said. “This is the reason why we are successful as a bowling unit, and the bowlers can bowl at 140 mph regularly,” he added.
