Scotland defeated Bermuda in the 30th match of the T20 World Cup Qualifier. Scotland amassed a huge total of 204 runs for 4 wickets while batting first. It was also the first 200plus score of the tournament yet and Calum Macleod played a vital role in making it possible for his team. Bermuda could only score 158 runs at the cost of 8 wickets after 20 overs, losing their fifth match in a row and with no hopes for qualifying for the playoffs of the T20 World Cup Qualifier.

Bermuda won the toss and decided to field first in the 30th match of the T20 World Cup Qualifier. Scotland sent George Munsey and Captain Kyle Coetzer to open the innings. Scotland’s Captain Kyle Coetzer got caught by Onias Bascome on Kamau Leverock’s delivery after scoring 12 runs off 13 balls, at the end of the fourth over. Ollie Hairs also lost his wicket after scoring a quick 23 off 11 balls.
George Munsey and Calum Macleod propelled Scotland forward with their power-hitting. George Munsey scored 51 runs off 41 balls before losing his wicket to Rodney Trott. George Munsey and Macleod shared a partnership of 76 runs. Calum Macleod played a blistering innings as he crossed his 1000 runs mark. Macleod scored 74 runs off 37 balls. He struck a total of 9 fours and 2 sixes during his innings as got caught by George O’Brien on Kamau Leverock’s last delivery of the innings.
Richie Berrington also batted explosively alongside Macleod and played an undefeated innings of 34 runs off 19 balls. He struck 3 fours and a six as he shared a partnership of 73 runs off 34 balls with Macleod. Scotland piled up a total of 204 runs after 20 overs. Kamau Leverock claimed 2 wickets for 39 runs in his four overs for Bermuda. Dion Stovell and Rodney Trott got 1 wicket each against Scotland.
Bermuda vs Scotland: Bermuda unable to qualify for the playoffs of T20 World Cup Qualifier:
Bermuda required a towering target of 205 runs from 20 overs. Bermuda opened their innings with their Captain Dion Stovell and Oronde Bascome. Bermuda lost their captain in the second over of the innings while chasing such a big target. Dion Stovell got bowled by Safyaan Sharif for just 12 runs off 10 balls. Scotland’s Safyaan Sharif also dismissed Terryn Fray in his next over for 6 runs.
Oronde Bascome got lbw by Hamza Tahir right at the start of the seventh over after scoring 16 off 15 balls. Bermuda was already down 3 for 57 runs with 147 runs still required. Delray Rawlins added some life to the chase with his 46 runs off 21 balls where he struck 4 fours and 3 sixes. Delray Rawlins lost his wicket to Mark Watt after getting caught by Safyaan Sharif.

Kamau Leverock played an unbeaten innings of 43 runs off 24 balls after hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes for his team, but that was not enough as Bermuda finished on 158 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Bermuda fell 47 runs short of the target of 204 and lost their fifth consecutive match of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. Bermuda still has one match remaining against Netherlands in the T20 World Cup Qualifier.
Scotland is currently third on the points table with 6 points. They have won three matches out of five and are still eligible to qualify for the playoffs of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers.
