Pakistani pacer, Junaid Khan had not developed good notions about India’s Virat Kholi. He pondered Kholi just as a normal batsman in his initial career.
When the paceman firstly bowled to Indian batsman on Indian pitches, the ball went wide and he was grabbed on the second ball that let Junaid create perception on him as an average batsman.
‘Just an average batsman,’ Junaid Khan’s first impression on Kholi
“The first ball I bowled to him was a wide but the next ball when I beat him, I thought ‘well, he’s just a normal batsman’. Virat jokingly told me ahead of the series that these are Indian pitches and that balls won’t move much here. I said ‘we’ll see, because I have plenty of momentum with me as well,” he told Cricingif.
The bowler revealed that before throwing first ball to Kholi, he used to play domestic cricket at Faislabad and had developed his momentum there that helped him to continue at Sub-Continent’s pitches along with moving the ball there.
“Before that tour, I was playing domestic cricket in Faisalabad. I had bowled around 35-40 overs in each match so I had developed momentum heading into the series. I was making a comeback in the ODIs and when we were heading to India, I knew in my mind that this is my only chance to stage a strong comeback into the team. Secondly, I knew if I would perform well in India, I would need to take wickets,” he added.
Over the time, playing 86, 248, and 82 Tests, ODIs, and T20Is respectively, the Indian all-time skipper has smashed 7240, 11867, 2794 runs one by one. Whereas, Pakistan’s bowling star 71, 110, and 8 wickets respectively in 22 Tests, 76 ODIs, and 9 T20Is.
