Usman Shinwari and Faheem Ashraf set to play for Melbourne Renegades:
Melbourne Renegades, the defending champions, have signed the Pakistani bowler Usman Shinwari and allrounder Faheem Ashraf for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL).
Faheem Ashraf will be featuring in Big Bash League (BBL) for the first time, while Usman Shinwari will be playing his second season with Melbourne Renegades. Usman delivered the fastest ball of the tournament against Melbourne Stars. He claimed eight wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 6.14.
Gurney, Nabi to replace Shinwari, Ashraf in Melbourne Renegades:
Usman Shinwari will be available for the first seven games of the season, while Faheem Ashraf will be there for eight matches. The duo is set to be replaced by England’s Harry Gurney and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi for the rest of the tournament.
Harry Gurney also played for Renegades in the previous season of the tournament and took 10 wickets in 9 matches, while Mohammad Nabi will be featuring in his third season of the Big Bash League (BBL). Nabi has scored 316 runs and claimed 16 wickets in 21 games during his previous two seasons.
Renegades’ new Head Coach, Michael Klinger, said that he was pleased with how they are shaping up. He praised Mohammad Nabi and Harry Gurney, saying that they showed their class last season, so they are glad to have them on board for the second half of the tournament.
Michael Klinger added that the competition for the spots in the playing XI is going to be fierce after they have won the title. He said that they have got plenty of options to cover the challenges that they will be facing throughout the season.
Big Bash League (BBL) is scheduled to start on December 17. Melbourne Renegade will be playing their first match against Sydney Thunder on December 19.
