Singapore won the 3rd Match of Singapore Twenty20 Tri-Series by 4 runs against Zimbabwe. Singapore scored 181 runs at the cost of 9 wickets in a rain-hit 18-over match. Zimbabwe managed to score 177 runs off 7 wickets in 18 overs in their chase for the target of 182 runs. Singapore won the match by 4 runs.
Singapore’s innings vs Zimbabwe:
In the 3rd match of Singapore Twenty20 Tri-Series between Nepal, Singapore, and Zimbabwe, Singapore won the toss and decided to bat first against Zimbabwe. Rohan Rangarajan and Surendran Chandramohan opened the innings for Singapore.
Rohan Rangarajan scored 39 runs off 22 balls by hitting 8 fours all over the ground before being run out by Tinotenda Mutombodzi on the first ball of the 7th over. Rohan’s opening partner Surendran Chandramohan also lost his wicket in the same over after putting up 23 runs for 17 balls.
Tim David of Singapore played an impressive inning with his 41 runs off 24 balls with the help of 2 fours and 4 sixes. Singapore’s wicketkeeper Manpreet Singh also scored 41 runs but off 23 balls for 4 fours and a six to push his team towards a total of 181 runs in 18 overs setting up the target of 182 runs for Zimbabwe to Chase in 18 overs.
Zimbabwe’s Ryan Burl took 3 wickets for his team by conceding only 24 runs in his 3 overs. Richard Ngarava took 2 for 48 runs while Neville Madziva and Zimbabwe’s captain Sean Williams took 1 wicket each for their team against Singapore.
Zimbabwe’s innings against Singapore:
Zimbabwe needed 182 runs off 108 balls to win the match against Singapore. Regis Chakabva and Brian Chari opened the innings for Zimbabwe. While Brian Chari lost his wicket on the last ball of the 3rd over after scoring only 2 runs off 9 balls, his opening partner Regis Chakabva played an explosive inning as he scored 48 runs off just 19 balls by smacking 6 fours and 3 sixes.
Tinotenda Mutombodzi contributed 32 runs off 25 balls but Zimbabwe’s captain Sean Williams tried his best to win the game for his team by scoring 66 runs off just 35 balls, hitting 5 fours and 5 huge sixes. Sean Williams’ brilliant innings of 66 runs were not enough to win Zimbabwe the game as none of the other batsmen scored more than 5 runs for Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe’s team finished their innings on 177 runs at the cost of 7 wickets in 18 overs, just 5 runs short of winning the match. Singapore defeated Zimbabwe by 4 runs.
Singapore’s captain Amjad Mahboob bowled exceptionally as he took 2 wickets of 20 runs in his 4 overs, Janak Prakash also took 2 wickets for his team at the cost of 34 runs. Selladore Vijayakumar and Aahan Gopinath Achar took 1 wicket each for their team against Zimbabwe.
Despite losing the match, Zimbabwe’s captain Sean Williams was awarded “Player of the Match” for his incredible innings of 66 runs off 35 balls in which he struck 5 fours and 5 sixes all around the ground to chase the target of 182 runs in 18 overs for his team. Singapore entered the ground with 2 debutants, Aritra Dutta and Aahan Gopinath Achar. Zimbabwe also introduced a debutant, Richard Ngarava.
