Marcus Stoinis led Melbourne Stars to victory in their match against Sydney Sixers on January 12 in the Big Bash League (BBL). Stoinis starred with his unbeaten 147 runs for 79 balls as the Melbourne Stars defeated Sydney Sixers by 44 runs.
Melbourne Stars scored 219 runs for 1 wicket while batting first. Sydney Sixers could only score 175 runs for 7 wickets in the 20 overs of their innings.
Marcus Stoinis and Hilton Cartwright also shared the highest BBL partnership of 207 runs before Hilton lost his wicket in the final over of the innings at the hands of Sam Curran. Hilton Cartwright contributed 59 runs from 40 balls and supported Stoinis as he did most of the damage. Stoinis achieved his 100 on just 60 balls. He smacked 14 fours and 8 sixes as he extended his maiden T20 hundred to 147 runs.

Sydney Sixers lost both their openers in the powerplay. Daniel Hughes smacked 20 runs from 13 balls. Sydney Sixers’ skipper Moises Henriques struck 41 runs from 25 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes before losing his wicket to Clint Hinchliffe.
Towards the end of the innings, Ben Dwarshuis played a blistering knock of unbeaten 42 runs from 17 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes, but at that point in the game, it was too late to do anything in front of the mammoth target of 220.
Sydney Sixers finished their innings on 175/7 after 20 overs. Clint Hinchliffe secured 3 wickets for 20 runs. Daniel Worral, Haris Rauf, Lance Morris, and Sandeep Lamichhane scored 1 wicket each for the Stars.
Marcus Stoinis was named the “Player of the Match” for his brilliant knock of 147* off 79 balls which made it possible for his team to set up a huge total of 220 runs.
