The star all-rounder from England, Ben Stokes, is still preparing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) despite speed rising worldwide fears of COVID-19.
Ben Stokes, who is one of the thirteen regular England participants for INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE is deliberately waiting for COVID-19 pandemic to end and for IPL to be kicked off. Being a cricket freak, it would have been hard for Stokes and other players to stay at home for long without cricket. David Warner of Sun Risers Hyderabad is also all set to take part in the league despite COVID-19 threats.
“At the moment my next competitive cricket is going to be in the IPL,” Stokes told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I have to get my head around that I am playing even though in the back of my mind I know I am probably not. I have to build up and get myself physically in a position that if it does happen I am good to go.
“I cannot take three weeks off and expect the body to be ready for 20 April because it doesn’t work like that. It might happen and if it does I don’t want to be behind.”
IPL preparations were on its peak because it was to be started by 29th March but has been called-off indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. BCCI however, seems in no mood to cancel the league and wills to drag it ahead by any means.
