The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has suggested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cancel next year’s PSL to host Asia Cup.
Asia Cup, that is scheduled for September 2020 is most likely to be canceled amidst the situation as no news has been made for organizing. After that, the T20 World Cup 2020, is also looking to be postponed till 2021 or 2023. As a consequence, BCCI is looking forward to a vast and vacant window of September-November to hold IPL.
They are willing for PSL to get canceled in February 2021 to hold the September 2021’s canceled Asia Cup.
BCCI official suggests PCB postpone PSL to host Asia Cup next year
“Asia Cup will be a struggle this year. Going by the statement of the Chief Executive of the PCB, the window that suits them doesn’t suit India. Maybe they can postpone PSL next year if BCCI is able to open up a window during that period. Otherwise conducting the Asia Cup doesn’t seem too practical as these are challenging times,” the functionary said as quoted by Outlook.
Earlier, the CEO of PCB said that Asia Cup will go ahead either in Sri Lanka or in UAE.
“The Asia Cup will go ahead. The Pakistan team returns from England on 2nd September so we can have the tournament in September or October. There are some things which will only get clear in the due course of time. We are hopeful of having the Asia Cup because Sri Lanka has not had too many cases of the Coronavirus. If they can’t do it, then UAE is also ready,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
