India declared their innings today after they scored 497 runs at the cost of 9 wickets against South Africa. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane played a major role in India’s innings. South Africa has scored 9 runs after losing 2 wickets in just 5 overs of their innings. India has already won the first 2 Test matches and they are most likely on their way to whitewash South Africa in their 3-match Test series.

Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane:
After losing 3 wickets for 39 runs, it looked as if this test would turn out any different than the previous 2 tests but Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane shattered that possibility with India’s highest partnership against South Africa for the fourth-wicket.
Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma took a stand of 267 runs for the fourth-wicket. Ajinkya Rahane scored his 11th Test hundred. Rahane lost his wicket to Linde after scoring 115 runs off 192 balls. He struck 17 fours and a six to achieve his total. Ajinkya Rahane scored his last hundred at home in 2016.
Rohit Sharma scored his maiden Test double-hundred. He amassed 212 runs off 255 balls after hitting 28 fours and 6 huge sixes. Rohit Sharma is the third player to score a double-century in this series alongside Mayank Agarwal and India’s captain Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma has also scored more than 500 runs in just 4 innings during this series, bringing his average at home to 99.

Ravindra Jadeja scored his 13th Test half-century for 118 balls, while Umesh Yadav smacked 31 runs off 10 balls after hitting 5 sixes to give India a little boost towards the end of their innings. India declared their innings at the total of 497/9.
Debutant George Linde takes four for South Africa:
Debutant George Linde claimed 4 wickets for South Africa in his 31 overs for 133 runs. Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets for 85 runs in his 23 overs. Anrich Nortje and Dane Piedt snatched 1 wicket each against India. South Africa’s Test debutant Heinrich Klaasen, who was playing as a wicketkeeper, took part in 3 catches and also stumped Ravichandran Ashwin.
South Africa’s innings:
South Africa started their innings with Dean Elgar and wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock. Dean Elgar was dismissed by Mohammad Shami on a duck in the first over of the match. South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Cock also lost his wicket on the last ball of the 2nd over after scoring just 4 runs.
Zubayr Hamza and South Africa’s captain Faf du Plessis are the not out batsmen for their team. Faf du Plessis has scored 1 run whole Zubayr Hamza has scored none. Shahbaz Nadeem has bowled 2 overs for India. Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja have bowled 1 over each so far for their team.
At the end of the day, South Africa’s score was 9 runs for 2 wickets before the play was stopped early due to bad light. India is still 488 runs ahead and South Africa has only 8 wickets left in their hands.
