Surrey got off to the kind of start they wanted to in the competition and they have been absolutely brilliant right through their campaign thus far. They have been so good that the only match they did not win was washed away due to rain. As it currently stands on the points table, Surrey have 13 points to their name with a net run rate of 1.699, courtesy six wins from seven matches.

As it currently stands, Surrey look all set to get to the playoffs unless, ofcourse, they play real poor cricket hereon. Having said that, they would still want to register a win here in this upcoming match as that will inch them closer to a playoff berth early in the competition.

Considering the on-paper team combination of Surrey, they have a side tailor-made for this format of the game. The likes of Jason Roy, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, and Chris Jordan have proved themselves time and again and will use all their experience to aid Surrey. Besides, they have a decent set of domestic players in Ollie Pope and Rory Burns, who both can be match-winners on their own.

Middlesex and their fans would have been flying high during the early part of the T20 Blast this year but with Middlesex posting a string of poor results, their joy happened to be short-lived. Middlesex had a poor run last year and they seem to be following a similar trajectory this year too. They are languishing near the bottom of the points table in their group, seventh position to be precise, and have a terrible net run rate of -1.074.

Having said all that, Middlesex have won three matches so far and a win here will put them back into the contention. While a win here won’t bring about a big change to their standing, thanks to their terrible net run rate, it would be enough to bring them back into contention.

Middlesex Panthers are coming off four consecutive losses and will likely be down on confidence. They had a poor outing in their County Championship match as well and that might play on their minds too. Also, they were defeated by Surrey in the last meeting before the two sides and that too could have an impact on how they take the field here at the Oval.
