AB de Villiers to skip PSL 2020 due to workload

AB de Villiers to skip PSL 2020:

PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars will release AB de Villiers from their roster ahead of the PSL 2020 Draft. AB de Villiers explained that the reason is that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is holding the entire season in Pakistan this time and he is just trying to manage his workload as much as possible.

AB de Villiers last played T20 for Middlesex in England’s Vitality Blast T20 tournament which was held in September. De Villiers is expected to play for Brisbane Heat in the second half of this season of Big Bash League (BBL) and then for Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will be representing Royal Challengers Bangalore.

AB de Villiers, one of the best batsmen the world has ever seen, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on 23 May, 2018.

The PSL Draft is scheduled on December 5 and the six franchises are supposed to finalize their retentions and trade picks until December 1.

AB de Villiers’ last season of PSL:

AB de Villiers was signed up by Lahore Qalandars for seven matches in UAE and two matches in Pakistan, but he did not show up for his two matches in Pakistan because of a back injury. He scored 218 runs at an average of 54.50 in his seven games in UAE. Despite his efforts, Qalandar still finished at the bottom spot on the points table of PSL 19.

Lahore Qalandars have finished among the bottom two spots in each of the four seasons of PSL despite picking up big names such as Chris Gayle, Yasir Shah, and Chris Lynn. In the past, Mustazifur Rahman, Shaun Tait, Dwayne Bravo, and Anton Devcich have opted out from playing for the Qalandars in the PSL due to injuries.
