Match Preview

With just one win to their name in seven matches, the Brisbane Heat Women are struck in the bottom half of the points table. Rain played the spoilsport in two of their fixtures this year. They have had their share of back luck, but in the five matches that produced a result, Brisbane Heat looked unimpressive and could emerge victorious in only one game.

They will square off against the Sydney Thunder Women in their eighth match of WBBL 2020. The team from Sydney had bulldozed the Brisbane Heat Women by restricting them to 30/7 when the two sides met previously. The Sydney Thunder Women have won four of their seven matches and are the favorites to win this contest.

The tournament features some of the top talent in women’s cricket, with several international players and Australia’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup-winning team in action. The build up to this edition included lots of internationals moving from one franchise to the other, promising considerable shake-up to the competition. Ahead of the season, we take a look at some key player signings and how it could impact the franchises.

The best players from around the world have arrived in the rebel WBBL Village in Sydney Olympic Park ahead of Sunday’s opening rebel WBBL|06 matches.

More than 250 players, staff and families will spend the next five weeks inside the Village with the entire 59-game season to be played in Sydney.

Eight matches will be played across North Sydney Oval and Hurstville Oval this Sunday and Monday, highlighted by a Sunday double-header on the Seven Network, Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports (opening round fixture below).
