West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. Hazratullah Zazai and Ibrahim Zadran came to bat first for their team. Ibrahim Zadran got lbw by Alzarri Joseph in the 3rd over of the match. Rahmat Shah also lost his wicket as he got dismissed by Keemo Paul after scoring 10 runs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Ikram Alikhil added 9 runs before getting bowled by Keemo Paul. Opener Hazratullah Zazai scored his second ODI half-century before losing his wicket after scoring 50 runs from 59 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Najibullah Zadran contributed 30 from 32 with 4 fours.

Afghanistan was 118/5 in the 29th over. Asghar Afghan and Mohammad Nabi shared a 127 runs partnership to bring Afghanistan to a defendable total. Asghar Afghan played an outstanding innings of 86 runs from 85 balls with 6 sixes and 3 fours before getting caught by Romario Shepherd at short third man on Alzarri Joseph’s delivery. Mohammad Nabi scored his 15th half-century as he finished his innings on unbeaten 50 runs from 66 balls with 3 fours and a six.

Afghanistan finished their innings on 249 runs for 7 wickets. Alzarri Joseph claimed 2 wickets for 59 runs. Keemo Paul took 3 for 44 runs from his 10 overs. Romario Shepherd and Roston Chase got 1 wicket each against Afghanistan.

Shai Hope stars as West Indies whitewash Afghanistan in the ODI series:

West Indies required 250 runs to win the match and seal the 3-match ODI series by 3-0. Wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope and Evin Lewis came to bat first for West Indies. Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismissed both Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer in the 3rd over of the match. Brandon King got bowled by Rashid Khan after adding 39 runs from 56 balls with 5 fours and a six. Nicholas Pooran contributed 21 runs from 26 balls. Kieron Pollard scored 32 from 26 balls with 2 sixes and a four.

Opener Shai Hope batted brilliantly as he showed everyone how good he is with his seventh ODI hundred that secured the match for West Indies. Shai Hope finished his innings on an unbeaten 109 runs from 145 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. He took an undefeated stand of 71 runs with Roston Chase who contributed 42 runs from 32 deliveries towards the end of the match with 3 fours. Shai Hope also finished as the highest run-scorer in the 3-match ODI series with 229 runs.

West Indies finished the innings on 253/5 in 48.4 overs as Roston Chase struck the last shot for four towards square leg against Yamin Ahmadzai. West Indies’ Shai Hope was awarded the “Player of the Match” for his exceptional batting performance.

Roston Chase was named the “Player of the Series” for his classy all-round performance as the second-highest run-scorer with 145 runs and the highest wicket-taker with 6 wickets in the 3-match ODI series against Afghanistan.

West Indies will play 3 T20Is against Afghanistan starting from November 14. Both teams will play only 1 test against each other on November 27.
