Northern won the match by 3 runs.

Northern defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the first semi-final of the National T20 Cup by 3 runs. Haris Rauf, the Player of the Match, delivered the best over of his life where he defended 8 runs while also taking 4 wickets in his last over for Northern. Northern scored 148 runs at the cost of 9 wickets while batting first. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 145 runs off 8 wickets after 20 overs, losing the game by 3 runs. Northern now advances to the Finals of the National T20 Cup where they will face Balochistan on October 24.

Northern’s Umar Amin score 43, KPK’s Usman Shinwari claim 5:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the toss and decided to field first in the first semi-final of the National T20 Cup. Northern sent Umar Amin and Ali Imran to bat first. Ali Imran lost his wicket to Usman Shinwari in the third over of the match after scoring just 8 runs off 11 balls. Sohail Akhtar got dismissed on a golden duck by Junaid Khan.

Opener Umar Amin batted sensibly, as he pushed his team forward with his 43 runs off 33 balls. Umar Amin struck 4 fours and a six in his innings before getting caught by Iftikhar Ahmed on Usman Shinwari’s delivery. Rohail Nazir scored 21 off 21 balls and Asif Ali contributed 28 runs off 16 deliveries. Mohammad Nawaz made 12 runs for 15 balls.

Northern vs KPK, 1st Semi-Final National T20 Cup

Usman Shinwari claimed 3 wickets in the last over of the innings. Usman dismissed Northern’s captain Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, and Sohail Tanvir. Imad Wasim scored 9 of 11 balls, while Shadab Khan scored 16 off 8 deliveries.

Northern finished their innings on 148 for 9 after 20 overs. Usman Shinwari claimed 5 wickets, 3 of them came from the last over. Usman conceded 13 runs in his 4 overs while also bowling a maiden over. Imran Khan got 2 wickets for 31 runs in his 4 overs. Junaid Khan and Musadiq Ahmed took 1 wicket each for their team.

Haris Rauf takes Northern into the finals of the National T20 Cup:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa required 149 runs from 120 balls to win the match and qualify for the finals of the National T20 Cup. KPK sent Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman to bat first. Sohail Tanvir dismissed Sahibzada Farhan on a duck in his first over. KPK’s captain Mohammad Rizwan was only able to score 14 runs off 14 balls before being bowled by Mohammad Amir.

Fakhar Zaman played an innings of 39 runs off 31 deliveries with 4 fours before he was dismissed by Northern’s captain Imad Wasim in the 13th over of the match. Iftikhar Ahmed scored a half-century after hitting 6 fours. Iftikhar Ahmed played an innings of 53 runs off 45 balls to bring his team closer to the target. Khushdil Shah added 22 runs off 17 balls to his team’s total.

KPK was 141/4 and required 8 runs from the last over. Haris Rauf who had not stood out so much during the rest of the game, turned out to be the star of the day in his last over.

Haris Rauf dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed on his first ball of the over. Haris bowled a wide and then claimed the wickets of Musadiq Ahmed and Zohaib Khan on the next two balls. KPK required 7 runs off 3 balls. Mohammad Mohsin got run out on the second last ball of the match and so 7 runs were required off 1 ball. The celebrations were already on their way as Usman Shinwari hit the last ball for a single and Northern had qualified for the Finals of the National T20 Cup.
